Celebrities are admired for their fashion on a daily basis, and even more so for special events and appearances. It is therefore no surprise that a stars’ wedding ensemble is anticipated, revered and even criticized by doting fans.

From simplistically chic to over-the-top opulence, this summer's celebrity wedding gowns have seen it all. Below are a few wedding gown highlights from early summer 2014 celebrity weddings.

Kim Kardashian - Kanye West (May 24)
Although not technically a summer wedding, Kim Kardashian's ensemble for her nuptials to rapper, Kanye West, was the talk of the style world just before summer hit. Givenchy's creative director personally designed the one of a kind gown for the bride, which showcased her famous physique with its curve-hugging silhouette. While the modestly covered front of the lace gown was beautiful and even sweet with lace sleeves, in true Kim Kardashian fashion, it was her backside that stunned with a completely sheer, low-cut back with sheer paneled sides and belt detail around the waist.

Olivia Palermo - Johannes Huebel (June 28)
Simplistic and chic were the focus of Olivia Palermo's wedding day ensemble. The fashion maven stunned fans with her choice of three Carolina Herrera separates: a cashmere sweater paired with white shorts and tulle skirt overlay with applique details. The look was topped off with blue Manolo Blahnik shoes and the whole shebang screamed Carrie Bradshaw from Sex in the City.

Katie Couric - John Molner (June 21)
The famous anchor wore a gorgeous lace halter gown by designer Carmen Marc Valo for her wedding to long-time beau, John Molner. The lace embroidery and beading detail accompanied by the simple cut of the gown made for a stunning, sophisticated wedding day look. The bride kept her jewelry light and hair free of adornments, making the dress (and her glowing smile) the focal point for the day.

Eve - Maximillion Cooper (June 14)
The rapper donned a sleeveless Alice Temerley gown with a turtleneck neckline. The lace detail at the top gave a peek-a-boo glimpse of the décolletage and sweetheart bust line. This detail led to a sheer scalloped lace overlay to the floor, giving another peek at the sexy mid-thigh slit.

Jill Duggar - Derick Dillard (June 21)
The TLC reality star chose a lace a-line gown with sweetheart neckline and a ruched fabric and sparkle waist detail. After purchasing the gown, the bride enlisted the skill of a seamstress to alter the dress for a more conservative look. Using matching fabric and lace from veils, the neckline was raised and cap sleeves added to create a sweet ensemble that still maintained the original beauty of the dress for Jill's special day.

Melissa Etheridge - Linda Wallem (May 31)
The famous singer married her partner this spring while donning a gray suit over a crisp wide-cuffed shirt. The relaxed rocker kept the look simple but paired her suit with a pink and purple detailed scarf, matching the color of their wedding palette and flowers.

Jessica Simpson - Eric Johnson (July 5)
For her second trip down the aisle, the blonde bombshell and singer wore a champagne and gold, strapless tulle gown by Carolina Herrera. The regal gown, embroidered from top to bottom in gold detail stunned accompanied by the bride's cathedral-length veil.
